Loss of DVD/CD-RW DRIVE (D:)
Failing that a new DVD burner should not be expensive. Will not be able to try the hard drive with XP on it for a week, so I thought I’d post this in the meantime.
Whenever it wasn’t recognized I was able to remove it from the device manager, physically remove it from the laptop, reboot, put it back in, then it dvs get recognized by the device manager and would work for maybe a week or two then the same thing all over again. To boot from CD on your Thinkpad press F12 at the welcome screen.
